Moonspell is a leading Portuguese gothic metal band formed in 1992. After releasing their first EP Under the Moonspell in 1994 and their acclaimed debut album Wolfheart in 1995, they quickly established themselves as the most prominent metal band from Portugal. Fronted by co-founder and vocalist Fernando Ribeiro, Moonspell rose to national success with the album Sin/Pecado in 1998 and made history with Memorial in 2006, becoming the first Portuguese metal act to earn a Gold record. The band is also well known in Germany, where their albums frequently chart in the Top 100.
