Rancid is an influential punk rock band from Berkeley, California, formed in 1991 by Tim Armstrong and Matt Freeman, both former members of Operation Ivy. Along with bands like Green Day and The Offspring, Rancid helped renew mainstream interest in punk rock during the mid-1990s. The band is known for its energetic sound and strong roots in underground music scenes. Rancid’s most recognized albums include Let’s Go and the breakthrough ...And Out Come the Wolves, featuring popular tracks such as Roots Radicals, Ruby Soho, and Time Bomb. Over the years, the group has released ten studio albums and sold more than four million records worldwide. The current lineup features Armstrong, Freeman, Lars Frederiksen, and Branden Steineckert. Despite several lineup changes, the band has maintained a loyal fan base and continues to be a prominent force in punk music, with their latest album, Tomorrow Never Comes, released in 2023.
