A small and handy (mostly) lo-fi sampler with a characteristic sound (everything downsamples to 12-bit @ 31.25 kHz). If this is your first Volca, you (like me...) will probably struggle a bit at first with the controls, which (also due to the size) don't exactly excel in ergonomics. The extreme advantage is the battery operation, which (together with the headphone output) makes this little guy an ideal travel companion. Power can also be supplied by an adapter, of course, but it's a nine-volt adapter and has a 4.75 x 1.7 mm plug, which is pretty hard to find (unless you want an origo Korg adapter, which is pretty expensive). Compared to the previous version, the USB connection to the computer is definitely a pleasure, which is especially useful for sample management. On the other hand, the absence of song mode is a pity (it was replaced by chain mode, which is not quite the same). Something for something and enough of parentheses - for the money it's just a clear choice :-)
