Korg Multi/Poly Module Synthesizer
A True Classic – Reborn
Introducing the new analog modeling synthesizer Multi/Poly, inspired by the legendary Korg Mono/Poly. It brings breathtaking analog sounds combined with exceptional digital performance and versatility. The Multi/Poly module is now available in a compact 19" desktop/rack unit, featuring MIDI 2.0 Property Exchange support and poly aftertouch – making it an excellent complement to the Korg Keystage controller. It is fully compatible with native Multi/Poly software as well as an expanding range of third‑party libraries, ensuring fresh, updated sounds. The new 19" rack‑mount chassis features the same controls as the keyboard model, yet remains portable and integrates elegantly into any studio or desktop production system.
Analog Modeling Reimagined
Multi/Poly offers reworked, incredibly detailed filters and oscillators that push analog modeling to a new level. Each voice includes a virtual voice card where oscillators, filters, envelopes, LFOs, and portamento circuits are modeled to mirror the variations found in analog hardware. This allows each voice to possess a slightly unique character, creating rich and naturally evolving timbres. Envelopes evolve naturally – if a long pad is played with extended release, new notes capture the current state of the envelope instead of restarting. Oscillators and LFOs retain their phase while resonance continues to build, and pitch drift mimics the subtle instability of true analog hardware.
Inspired by the Classics
Multi/Poly also includes envelope curves inspired by classic synthesizers such as Mono/Poly, MS‑20, ARP Odyssey, and Prophet 5. The analog VCAs behave differently depending on voltage, with varying thresholds for activation and deactivation, which strongly influences the character of the amp envelope. Multi/Poly models VCA responses from Mono/Poly, MS‑20, Prophet 5, Mini, Odyssey, and others, along with a linear variant.
MIDI 2.0 and Polyphonic Aftertouch
All Multi/Poly models, both hardware and software, support MIDI 2.0 Property Exchange and offer easy access to polyphonic aftertouch, making them an excellent partner for the Korg Keystage controller.
Rack‑Mount & Desktop Compatibility
The Multi/Poly module is intelligently designed for both desktop use and rack mounting. The front panel has been redesigned to fit a standard 19" width, and the recessed rear panel with connectors ensures easy cable access even when the unit is mounted. In desktop setups, adjustable brackets allow for different panel angles – flatter for standing performance or more upright for seated studio work.
Polyphony: 60
The polyphony of this instrument allows up to <%=tp_value % notes to be played simultaneously, providing rich and complex musical possibilities.
LFO: Yes
An LFO, or low frequency oscillator, brings electronic sound to life. It adds movement and interest to synthetic sounds and effects, playing an important role in both subtle synthesis and bold sound design. However, you won't hear the LFO itself because it acts as a modulator. This means that it does not directly affect the audio signal, but adjusts other parameters such as oscillator pitch and filter clipping.
Envelope: Yes
The Envelope filter gives you precise control over the dynamics and shape of the sound. This filter provides greater flexibility in adjusting and customizing sound characteristics, enhancing the overall quality and expressiveness of the performance.
Oscillators: Yes
A powerful oscillator system allows users to create rich and variable sound textures. Oscillators can generate a variety of waveforms, including sine, square, triangle, and noise, allowing for creativity and experimentation.
Pitch Bend: Yes
The Pitch Bend allows smooth pitch changes, adding expressiveness to musical expression. Often used to create effects such as glissando or vibrato, this feature allows the player to make subtle or dramatic changes to the sound in real time. Pitch bend allows musicians to create smooth transitions between notes, increasing the dynamics and expressiveness of their performances.
Modulation: Yes
Modulation allows you to change different aspects of the sound in real time, opening up a wide range of creative possibilities. For example, it can affect the pitch of the sound, creating a vibrato effect, or it can change the amplitude of the signal, creating a tremolo effect. It can also adjust filtering to create smooth transitions between frequency bands and dynamic textures. Modulation can also be used to change the character of the sound depending on the time or intensity of playing, giving the sound a lively and moving character.
Arpeggiator: Yes
The Arpeggiator transforms chords into sequences of individual notes played in various rhythmic and melodic patterns. Instead of playing the chords as a harmonic whole, the Arpeggiator breaks the chords into individual notes and plays them sequentially according to the selected algorithm.
