The JOYO Dynamic Compressor guitar pedal is representative of a classic Ross with very low noise. You can easily find your ideal tone. With the three controls of Sustain, Attack & Level you can easily dial in your perfect levels of compression. Wether you just need it to keep the volumes even on clean passages and to stop any notes overpowering others or wether you want to use it after your overdrive pedals to give you near endless sustain, it's up to you. You could even use it as a solo boost at the very end of your chain by setting the Sustain & Attack controls to taste and then setting the Level control so it's louder when it's turned on. A lot of players don't think they'll need a compressor or when they first use one don't think it's actually doing anything (I was one of those). Once you realise when and where to use a compressor then it becomes an essential part of your tone. It means you can control when and how much sustain you can have on certain passages. A compressor allows you to play delicately picked passages with masses of effects and you'll hear every note perfectly without any of them dissapearing into the ether or overpowering the others.
