I tried strings for the first time. First I couldn't get enough of Thomastik's Dominants, but these surprised me very pleasantly. They're a bit softer, so expect them to take longer to get used to when you first string them up properly, but in return they're more sonorous, have a thicker and somehow more pleasing tone than the hard Dominant. The advantage of these strings is that they have a better fitting core string banding. With other types of strings I often found that even after half a year the binding started to tear. Mostly on the E and A strings. The downside I would say is that they are completely unsuitable for beginners or players with a heavy hand. These strings are very sensitive to bow pressure and maybe even bow quality(but that's just a guess :-D). I.e. when you insensitively increase the dynamic of the tone with the bow, mostly on the E string there is a slight whistling sound. Although negligible, but I know from personal experience that it bothers during studio recording :-D.
