Radial ProRMP DI box
The Radial ProRMP is a 100% passive Reamper that lets engineers send previously recorded tracks back through guitar amplifiers and effect pedals without noise or grounding issues. A custom-wound transformer inside the unit converts a balanced line-level signal from the recording interface into a high-impedance instrument-level feed for the amp, while simultaneously isolating the two systems to eliminate hum and buzz caused by ground loops. Housed in a tough 14-gauge steel chassis, the ProRMP is a compact, plug-and-play signal-conditioning tool for any studio.
- Transformer-isolated passive signal path eliminates ground-loop hum and buzz at this tier.
- Onboard level control fine-tunes the output to match any amplifier input sensitivity.
- XLR input and 1/4" output design makes the box compatible with any standard recording interface.
- Built from 14-gauge steel with a welded I-beam frame for touring-grade durability.
Radial ProRMP — Passive Reamping for Every Studio
The Radial ProRMP Reamper is the link between a recorded dry guitar, bass, keyboard, drum, or vocal track and a real instrument amplifier. By routing the pre-recorded signal back through amps, cabinets, and pedals, this device gives mix engineers complete freedom to re-tune tone long after the original performance. It is a 100% passive Reamper, which means it does not require any external powering and sits transparently in the signal path until the level knob is touched.
What Makes This Reamper Different
A custom-wound transformer inside the ProRMP carries out two jobs at once: it bridges the impedance gap between a balanced low-Z recording-interface output and the hi-Z input a guitar amp expects, and it acts as a galvanic isolator to break the type of ground loops that otherwise introduce buzz and hum into reamped tracks. The welded I-beam steel chassis and full-bottom no-slip pad follow the same Radial build philosophy used across the Pro series.
Signal Path & Connectivity — Key Specs for a Clean Re-Amp
Connectivity on the ProRMP is intentionally minimal so the signal path stays short and the tone stays uncoloured. A balanced XLR input feeds the recorder output, while a single 1/4" instrument jack drives the amplifier or pedal chain; nothing else sits between source and destination.
- Input: 1 x XLR balanced line-level input — direct connection from any audio-interface line output
- Output: 1 x 1/4" / 6.3 mm TS instrument output — standard guitar-amp input feed
- Channels: 1 — single-channel passive design for focused mono reamping
- Ground Lift: Yes — kills hum and buzz from mains-borne ground loops
- Because the unit draws zero current from the mains or 48 V phantom rails, it stays ready in any session without an external supply in the chain.
Physical Build — Built to Survive Studio and Stage
Despite weighing only 540 g, this model uses the same heavy-duty 14-gauge steel enclosure as the rest of the Radial Pro line. The welded I-beam frame and book-end end caps protect the internal PCB from accidental bending or stress, and the full-bottom no-slip pad keeps the box stationary on an amp top while insulating it from the chassis bolts that often re-introduce ground loops.
- Chassis: 14-gauge steel (approx. 2 mm) with welded I-beam book-end construction
- Dimensions: approx. 70 x 44 x 108 mm (W x H x D) — slot-sized for cramped racks and desktop rigs
- At roughly half a kilo, it slips into a laptop bag or a shallow rack drawer alongside an interface without tipping the scales.
Tone Control & Versatility — One Knob, Many Applications
A single front-panel level control trims the signal hitting the amp so engineers can dial in clean, edge-of-breakup, or fully saturated tones from the same dry track. Reamping is not limited to guitars either — the published application list covers bass, keyboards, electric violin, voice, and percussion, and several pro engineers run balanced wireless-receiver outputs through the ProRMP to recover the warmth that gets lost over long cable runs.
- Level Control: Onboard continuously variable output level — fine-tunes amp drive without leaving the DAW
- Transformer: Custom-wound, handcrafted for the Radial Reamp line — galvanic isolation plus impedance match in a single component
- In practice, bass DI tracks and drum-machine outputs travel through the same box without any input adjustment, because the impedance match and ground isolation treat any unbalanced hi-Z destination identically.
