Vincent Anthony Guaraldi, born July 17, 1928, was an American jazz pianist celebrated for his iconic music in the Peanuts animated television specials. He created memorable pieces such as Linus and Lucy and Christmas Time Is Here, becoming a key figure in the franchise’s sound. Guaraldi also played with Cal Tjader’s ensembles in the 1950s and enjoyed success as a solo artist. His composition Cast Your Fate to the Wind became a hit and earned him a Grammy Award in 1963. Guaraldi passed away at age 47 after a performance in Menlo Park, California, on February 6, 1976.
