Tremolo Arms
A tremolo arm, also known to guitarists as a whammy bar, is a metal bar used to control an electric guitar's tremolo. Pushing or pulling the arm changes the pitch, letting you play vibrato, pitch dives and upward bends. Here you'll find replacement arms for Floyd Rose tremolos and Stratocaster, Jaguar, Jazzmaster and Mustang guitars, along with left-handed versions, arm tips and arm couplings. Most of the range consists of genuine Floyd Rose and Fender parts, complemented by Squier, Jackson, Ibanez, Graph Tech and MOOER. Choose an arm to match the tremolo on your guitar, as threads and diameters differ between series.
How do you choose a Floyd Rose tremolo arm?
Floyd Rose makes arms for specific tremolo series. The Floyd Rose Push-In arm slots into place without screwing in, its tension is adjustable with a 2 mm Allen key, and it fits Original, Special, 1000 Series and 1500 Series, Non-Fine Tuner and Pro Series tremolos. The threaded Original Old Style (Screw-In) arm is for older Floyd Rose Original tremolos from the 80s. Special arms fit the Special and 1000 Series ranges, while FRX arms fit only FRX tremolos and Rail Tail arms fit only Rail Tail tremolos. The Turbo Trem arm has a built-in 3 mm Allen key at the end, so you can fine-tune the tremolo even during a gig.
Which arm fits a Stratocaster, Jaguar or Mustang?
Fender arms vary according to the guitar's series and country of manufacture. The arm for Mexican-made Standard and Deluxe Stratocaster guitars built from 1986 onwards has a diameter of 3/16″ (4.76 mm). The threaded American Vintage arm is designed for right-handed American Vintage Stratocaster guitars from 1986 onwards, whereas the arm for American Deluxe and Ultra simply snaps into the tremolo. A Squier Affinity Stratocaster with a CY serial number from 2005 or later has a standard 10/32 thread. There are separate arms for Jaguar and Jazzmaster guitars and for the Japanese Mustang '65, so check your guitar's series and year of manufacture before buying.
Do you need a left-handed arm or a new tip?
Left-handed versions are available for Floyd Rose Original, Special, 1000 Series and Push-In arms, and Fender has a left-handed American Vintage Stratocaster arm. If the arm is secure and only the plastic tip is missing, a replacement Fender tip in Vintage White or Aged White is all you need. A new arm coupling or arm housing will secure a loose Floyd Rose arm. You'll find left-handed tremolos and other left-handed parts in the Tremolos and vibratos for left-handers category, and complete tremolos and other replacement parts in the Tremolos and vibratos category.
