Po několika týdnech hraní mohu říct, že Sire Larry Carlton J3 mě velmi příjemně překvapila. Na svou cenu nabízí neobvykle vysokou kvalitu zpracování – rovný krk, bezchybné pražce, kvalitní hardware a perfektní funkčnost hned po vybalení. Stačilo naladit a hrát. Krk je pohodlný, spíše užší a plochý, kytara je lehká (3,4 kg) a výborně sedí v ruce. Akusticky zní velmi živě, s bohatými harmonickými a zajímavými středobasy. Zvukově se pohybuje někde mezi Jazzmasterem a Stratocasterem, přičemž mahagonové tělo dodává vlastní charakter a barvu tónu. Osazené snímače mají univerzální charakter, který neurazí jazzmana, bluesmana ani rockera. Kdo má jasnou představu o svém výsledném zvuku, může časem zvolit specializovanější snímače podle svého stylu. Samotný nástroj má ale natolik kvalitní základ, že si bez problémů zaslouží místo mezi mými nejlepšími kytarami.
