Patrice Rushen, born in 1954, is an acclaimed American jazz pianist, R and B singer, songwriter, producer, and music director. Known for her hit single Forget Me Nots and the instrumental Number One, both from her 1982 album Straight from the Heart, she received Grammy nominations for both songs. Rushen is also recognized for her influential roles in music education, serving as an ambassador at Berklee College of Music since 2008 and as chair of the popular music program at USC Thornton School of Music since 2014.
