McBriare Samuel Lanyon DeMarco, known professionally as Mac DeMarco, is a Canadian singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and producer born in 1990. He first gained attention in the indie music scene in 2012 and has released several acclaimed albums, including 2, Salad Days, This Old Dog, Here Comes the Cowboy, and Five Easy Hot Dogs. Before his solo career, he released music under the name Makeout Videotape. After moving from Vancouver to Montreal, he began working as a solo artist and eventually signed to Captured Tracks, launching his unique blend of slacker rock and lo-fi pop, a style he calls jizz jazz. In addition to albums and mini-albums, he started Mac's Record Label in 2018. Mac DeMarco is known for his laid-back sound and offbeat, personal songwriting.
