Linseed Oil Varnish is a quick-drying siccative ideal for making your own oil paints. This painting medium and pigment binder is made by adding siccatives to linseed oil to speed the drying time. It has an obvious reddish-yellow tint, therefore isn't suitable for whites or pale colors. Mix linseed oil varnish with medium to dark colors to increase their flow and speed drying. You can use turpentine oil or white spirit to dilute. Whether a painting agent is required largely depends on the painting technique. Modifying the color will affect the consistency, opacity, drying time, shine and longevity of the colors.
