James Horner was an acclaimed American film composer whose career spanned from 1978 to 2015, contributing music to more than 160 films and television projects. Renowned for blending choral and electronic textures with traditional orchestration and Celtic motifs, Horner crafted some of cinema’s most memorable soundtracks. He won two Academy Awards for his music to Titanic, which became the best-selling orchestral film soundtrack in history, and also composed scores for major films such as Avatar, Aliens, Apollo 13, Braveheart, A Beautiful Mind, and many others. Horner frequently collaborated with leading directors like James Cameron, Ron Howard, and Mel Gibson. Throughout his career, he received numerous accolades, including six Grammy Awards and two Golden Globes. Horner’s distinctive style and emotional scores left a lasting legacy in film music. He died in a plane crash in 2015 at the age of 61, with his final works released posthumously.
