After 35 years of playing the four-string bass, I got the urge to try a five-string. The choice fell on the Fender Squier Affinity Jazz Bass V. And it must be said that it was a great choice. As I have owned several bass guitars, I can say that this instrument can withstand comparison with instruments in much higher price categories. The craftsmanship is at a very good level. Everything fits perfectly, so the tool did not need any modifications after delivery, apart from reducing the grip and fine-tuning. The configuration is exactly in the style of the Fender Jazz Bass Deluxe 5, here with passive electronics. The neck is pleasant to the hand and, unlike the polished body, it has a satin finish. It will tarnish a little over time, but this is completely normal and gives the instrument a player character. The body is in a beautiful Brown Sunburst finish with a glossy finish and, even compared to much more expensive instruments, it has precisely milled wells for both pickups, without any other "obtrusive" mounting holes. So we can safely use the bass without the Ála Jaco Pastorius pickguard. The sound is lively and very pleasant - classic Jazz Bass. The H (B) string also sounds very good and gives the instrument that real superb bass. The tone is balanced across the entire scale. I didn't come across any dead spots. I have been using it successfully in my studio for 10 months. Maybe it seems to readers now that I only talk about bass in superlatives. But considering the price, this tool fully deserves these superlatives. I can heartily recommend it to anyone who likes Jazz Bass sound and doesn't have a lot of money to spare.
