The controller is beautifully made of very solid plastic. The control mechanism is purely mechanical via a spring (lateral movement) and flexible rollers (longitudinal movement), whose responsiveness can be adjusted (the spring manually, and the rollers digitally or by replacing them - an optional purchase). It has the feel of playing an analog instrument, which needs to be mastered, but without difficulty. This makes it not as mathematically precise as slider controllers, but more "alive", "human" and can be more fun, especially when playing live. The included soft works as a host for plug-ins, but also has dozens of its own sounds that respond very impressively to gestures. If anyone works in Ableton (with MaxforLive), I strongly recommend the free Touche Control plug-in from Mixed Signal. It facilitates direct mapping without the involvement of the factory software, and has some great add-ons, including smoothing out hand twitches or extending the start or tilt return time after releasing the hand up to 5 sec - brilliant! The plug-in also works as a standalone app if someone doesn't have Max in Ableton or is using another DAW. In the transverse movement you can hear a gentle pinging of the spring, maybe it would be enough to lubricate it with a lubricant, but without disassembly it is impossible. The controller could be 20% smaller without harming handling, but with the benefit of a backpack. A cover is missing, even an optional one - poor for such a premium device. The factory sounds for me are disappointing: they sound quite similar and have a very synthy, harsh character.
