Emmanuel Pahud, born in Geneva in 1970, is a renowned Franco-Swiss flautist based in Berlin. Raised in a nonmusical family, he became fascinated with the flute as a child while living in Italy. He studied under prominent teachers from an early age, later receiving his formal training at the Conservatoire de Paris. Pahud gained international recognition when he joined the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra in 1992. Celebrated for his expressive playing and versatility, he is especially known for his performances of baroque and classical repertoire, but his artistry extends across jazz, contemporary, chamber, and orchestral music.
