Dennis Bovell, born in Barbados in 1953, is a reggae guitarist, bassist, and producer based in the UK. After starting out with the progressive rock group Stonehenge, he rose to prominence with the influential reggae band Matumbi. Bovell has released dub and reggae records both under his own name and as Blackbeard. He is especially recognized for his long-running creative partnership with dub poet Linton Kwesi Johnson.
