Dalida, born Iolanda Cristina Gigliotti on 17 January 1933, was an Italian-born singer and actress who became a French citizen and gained international fame. Starting as an actress in the mid 1950s, she rose to stardom as a singer, dominating the French charts for years and collaborating with artists like Julio Iglesias and Charles Aznavour. Despite personal struggles, including the loss of her partner Luigi Tenco, she continued to perform and produce music until her death by suicide in 1987.
