7-inch vinyl singles

7-inch vinyl singles are small records measuring 7 inches (about 18 cm) across, usually played at 45 revolutions per minute. The A-side usually features the main song, while the B-side has another track, a remix or a version you won't find on the album. You'll find almost 2 000 titles here: new singles, reissues of classics by Elvis Presley, The Beatles or ABBA, punk by Rancid, and soul and funk from labels Colemine, Big Crown and Numero. Some releases come on coloured vinyl, as a picture disc or as a limited edition for Record Store Day.

How do you play 7-inch vinyl singles on your turntable?

Set your turntable to 45 revolutions per minute. Many releases also state the speed in their title (“45 RPM”), but some 7" EPs with several tracks play at 33 ⅓ revolutions per minute. Singles released in the USA and jukebox editions often have a large centre hole. To fit them onto the standard spindle on your turntable platter, use a 45 rpm adapter, which you simply insert into the hole in the record.
