Amebix were a pioneering English punk rock band from Tavistock, Devon, recognized as originators of the crust punk genre. Combining anarcho-punk and post-punk with heavy metal influences, their sound helped pave the way for genres such as grindcore and black metal. Formed in 1978 by brothers Rob Miller and Chris Miller, they evolved from post-punk roots to a heavier style on albums like No Sanctuary and Arise. After initially disbanding in 1987 following the release of Monolith, they reunited in 2008 with drummer Roy Mayorga, releasing one final album, Sonic Mass, before parting ways again in 2012.
