How to choose a shaker

• Egg shaker or hand shaker: precise, easy-to-control rhythm for practice, recording and discreet accompaniment.
• Foot, ankle or bracelet shaker: keeps your hands free while playing cajon, guitar or singing.
• Larger wooden, rattan or coconut shaker: adds a stronger natural sound for school, workshops or louder live playing.

Plastic usually gives a light, direct tone, metal can sound brighter, and wood, rattan or coconut feel more organic. For quiet practice and studio work choose a smaller or softer model; for group playing, school and stage use, a louder shaker or set may be the better choice.
