Novation Launchpad X is a 64-pad MIDI grid controller for Ableton Live and Logic Pro, replacing mouse-driven workflows with hands-on clip launching, instrument playing and mixer control. Four operating modes and 16 function buttons fit into a compact 241 × 241 mm square frame powered entirely via USB-C. Using Dynamic Note and Scale modes, the grid can be limited to a chosen key, so basslines and melodies remain in tune no matter your experience.

Polyphonic Aftertouch and Fader Velocity

What elevates this controller above entry-level pad grids is polyphonic aftertouch — each pad sends independent pressure data, enabling per-note modulation of filter cutoffs, reverb mixes or any mapped parameter. Mixer mode translates softer pad hits into slower parameter changes for smooth level sweeps, avoiding stepped jumps.

RGB Pad Grid for Clips, Drums and Melodies

An 8 × 8 matrix handles Session View clips, drum patterns and melodic lines with RGB backlighting mirroring DAW colours for at-a-glance status.
