Sela Guinean Ion Cajon Íon
The Guinean íon is an interchangeable drum head designed for your Iconic Cajon, inspired by the rich musical traditions of Guinea, West Africa. This region is a vibrant hub of music, home to the world-renowned ‘Les Ballets Africains’, a company that has showcased some of the finest drummers in Africa for over seventy-five years.
Central to Guinean music is the djembe, a drum traditionally crafted from cow or goat skin. Our Guinean íon pays tribute to the latter, utilizing unbleached goatskin to produce a rounder, warmer sound compared to bleached goatskin íons, such as the Cuban íon.
The unbleached goatskin used in the Guinean íon is generally thicker than bleached goatskin, allowing for more powerful and dynamic playing. This robustness makes it an excellent choice for percussionists who prefer a more forceful playing style.
The Guinean íon is highly recommended for its unique frequency response, which adds a distinct tonal character to your Iconic Cajon. Its ability to handle powerful playing and produce warm, resonant tones makes it a valuable addition to any percussion setup.
