Focusrite Scarlett OctoPre is an 8-channel microphone preamplifier and AD / DA converter with analog compressors on each channel and a digital ADAT interface. The second generation of microphone preamps operates at 24 bit / 192 kHz and offers a dynamic range of up to 107 dB. Analog inputs 1 and 2 are capable of handling microphone, line or direct instrument (Hi-Z) signals. OctoPre is the ideal studio accessory for extending the connectivity of Scarlett Sound Cards and other ADAT-enabled devices. The converter is designed for rack installation, where it occupies one height unit.

Scarlett OctoPre Dynamic features eight analog inputs with combined XLR / TRS connectors. Each input channel is equipped with a volume control, a MORE switch to adjust the compression ratio between 2: 1 or 4: 1, and a COMPRESS potentiometer to adjust the compression threshold (treshold). For channels 1 and 2, the user can select the input sensitivity (LINE / INST). The signal can be routed to sixteen digital (2x optical ADAT interface) or eight analog (TRS) outputs. The signal strength is indicated by the color LEDs on the clear panel. Communication with other studio devices is provided by the BNC synchronization terminal for WordClock. Included is a software package including Red Plug-in Suite (Focusrite), Time and Tone Bundle (Softube), Plug-in Collective (Focusrite).
