The Eagles are a legendary American rock band formed in Los Angeles in 1971. Known for their harmonies and blend of rock and country, they became one of the most successful acts of the 1970s, earning six Grammy Awards and five American Music Awards. Classic hits like "Hotel California," "Take It Easy," and "Desperado" defined their sound. The Eagles have sold over 200 million records worldwide, including 100 million in the United States, making them one of the best-selling artists in history. Their album Their Greatest Hits 1971–1975 remains the best-selling album in US history. Core members included Glenn Frey, Don Henley, Bernie Leadon, and Randy Meisner, later joined by Don Felder, Joe Walsh, and Timothy B. Schmit. After an initial breakup in 1980, the band reunited, releasing new music and touring extensively. The Eagles were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1998 and continue to influence music worldwide.
