The first impression is great, because the device is subtle enough to match today's small dictation devices, e.g. Sony PCM-A10 WxHxD - 6,5x8,7x7 cm. The grip to the camera's skids is made of high quality metal, as well as the screws. The mount itself is plastic not aluminum, but it probably does not detract from the quality. I consider the overall workmanship (design) to be very nice to perfect. It is very hard to find another shockmount for dictaphones.
