The Synth:

At the heart of ORANGE VOCODER IV is a powerful 64-voice synthesizer, complete with hundreds of diverse presets and an intelligent preset generator capable of creating new and inspiring sounds with a single click. The synth can function as the vocoder's input signal, be layered with other modules for complex textures, or be used independently as a standalone instrument.

Its two versatile oscillators offer a choice between analog-emulated waveforms and sampled vintage digital waveforms. They feature two distinct flavors of ring modulation, hard sync for edgy timbres, through-zero FM for complex harmonic content, and seven types of polyphonic distortion for adding grit and character. The oscillators feed into a resonant low-pass filter with selectable slopes of 6 to 24dB, allowing for precise tonal shaping. Comprehensive modulation options include both mono and polyphonic LFOs (capable of audio-rate modulation for the oscillators), AD envelopes for dynamic control, envelope followers and zero-crossing trackers for responsive modulation based on the input signal, velocity sensitivity, and a flexible 4-destination macro control. Unison operation with up to 8 additional voices, along with DETUNE and CLUSTER modes for rich, wide sounds, and Mono Legato with glide for smooth melodic lines are also supported. The synth can be played via MIDI or controlled using the on-screen keyboard.

Pitch Quantization:

ORANGE VOCODER IV includes a sophisticated pitch quantizer that can force the input signal onto a specific pitch, operating in parallel to or independently of the vocoder. It offers five distinct modes – QUANTIZE, SCALE, NOTE, ENFORCE, and POLYFORCE – providing a wide range of pitch manipulation possibilities. The ENFORCE and POLYFORCE modes utilize a wave-table inspired approach and feature zero-latency processing, making them ideal for live performance. The pitch quantizer is incredibly user-friendly: simply activate it, select the desired algorithm, and it will be controlled by the same MIDI notes as the synth, including support for mono legato and glide.

The DICE:

The innovative DICE button in ORANGE VOCODER IV activates a smart randomizer that intelligently loads carefully designed settings into the synth, vocoder, and freezer modules. This provides an inspiring influx of new sonic ideas, generating only musically useful results, unlike conventional randomizers that often produce unusable sounds. You have the flexibility to exclude any module from the random roll and to select whether you want to generate musical or SFX-oriented sounds (or a combination of both). You can also choose to use the factory sub-presets, your own saved presets, or both. The DICE function is context-aware; if you are in the synth view, only the synth parameters will be randomized.
