The V71 module powers each kit with a newly recorded onboard library created with Drum Workshop (DW) and supports computer-based drumming via DW Soundworks. Its advanced pads, including the PD-14DSX digital snare, work seamlessly with wireless connectivity and Roland Cloud Connect, offering instant access to Instrument Expansions, Kit Packs, and more.

Prime Redesign and Premium Sounds

The V71 is Roland’s most advanced module, combining the classic V-Drums workflow with rebuilt processing, expanded memory, and ultra-powerful DSP. Preset changes, edits, and mix adjustments are faster and smoother thanks to the vivid display, tactile controls, and ergonomic layout. The onboard library offers record-ready drum sounds crafted from top-tier acoustic sets never included in previous modules, providing detail, punch, and studio-quality sonic performance.

Recording Process and Unrivaled Expression

Sounds were captured at 32-bit/192 kHz in professional studios worldwide, including direct collaboration with DW in Oxnard, California, ensuring seamless integration with DW Soundworks. Multi-layer playback, round-robin randomization, and Roland’s behavior modeling create natural, artifact-free sound with over 16,000 dynamic variations on digital pads.

New Sounds and Roland Cloud Membership

Unlike previous modules, the V71 allows sound expansion via Roland Cloud Connect. Users can download new Instrument Expansions wirelessly and start playing immediately. The module includes six months of Roland Cloud Ultimate, providing access to Instrument Expansions, Kit Packs, DW Soundworks, and related content. Sounds can also be permanently secured with Lifetime Key purchases.

V-Edit and Studio-Grade Processing

V-Edit tools allow detailed adjustment of any drum or cymbal, including head type, damping, tuning, snare wire tension, and mic distance. The module also features EQs and transient processors per layer, overall EQ and compression, Bus FX for multi-effects, reverb, and convolution-based ambience, with overhead, room, and kit resonance controls for realistic and immersive sound.

V71 Editor and Sample Import

The free V71 Editor software extends the workflow to a computer, mirroring module edits and giving precise control over tones and V-Edit parameters. Pads support three layers, combining internal sounds and external samples, enabling full customization for live or studio use.

Wireless Freedom and Professional Connectivity

Built-in wireless and Bluetooth audio/MIDI allow direct Roland Cloud access, jamming with songs, video lessons, and wireless MIDI recording. The rear panel provides XLR and 1/4-inch stereo outputs, eight direct outputs, analog and high-speed trigger inputs, stereo mix input, footswitch jack, and SD card support for backup, sample import, playback, and recording.

Multi-Channel Audio and MIDI over USB

The V71 supports USB audio/MIDI for DAW integration, including up to 32 audio channels over a single cable, with traditional MIDI I/O also available for hardware connections.
