I bought this pedal because the blows of the mechanical "hammer" were transmitted to the neighbors. There is nothing to hit here, so the noise reduction is basically absolute. It feels like there is a "cushion" when you step on it, which prevents the rough impact of the pedal on the pad, so that not only the noise is dampened there, but it probably also simulates the impact of a hammer on the drum membrane, which will not be completely hard. The transition from a mechanical pedal to this electronic one was quite smooth, I don't even know that there was any change. The only difference is that my foot slips a little on the pedal, but if that bothers you, you can put strips of carpet tape on the pedal. Two more things: according to the instructions, those who want less pedal resistance can remove one of the two strings that return the pedal to its initial position - I did so. And another thing: the package also included a weight that can be mounted on the pedal, for a different feel. I did not assemble it, the pedal in the state it is in now is the most similar in feel to the previous mechanical one. Overall rating: an excellent product, although a little on the expensive side.
