I'v just put those pickups on a maple neck, alder body(I think) very heavy 1990 Fender Deluxe Usa Stratocaster equipped with 3 lace sensors gold. I would rate the RV-50 P.U as very good vintage sounding P.U though not perfect as I consider there are so many choices with higher end "boutique" P.U that maybe have some more mojo/overtones.. I don't really know but they are much more expensive too. For this price there are difficult to beat and better than custom shop Fender has to offer. Those PU's are all about the attack, not much about output level or sustain ... so if you're after a very good picking dynamic and expressivity you can't go wrong with the RV-50 set. I advice to wire like my Strat with 2 tone pots to be able to control the high frequencies off all P.U's. The note definition is excellent, overall they are clear P.U's even whith distortion, and I find both clean/dirty sounds equally excellent! I don't regret my purchase because I prefer them to the Lace sensors gold for what I play.
