This is only my second Marshall, so I can't compare much, but I'm thrilled with its sound. So far I've played a DSL40CR, where the Ultra Gain channel has a mushy, vague and buzzy sound. But that's not the case with the JVM210H. It's in a completely different league. The OD channel has a dense and specific sound and is, without exaggeration, a 'roaring' beast. The head has two channels and each has three modes: green, orange and red. So six different sounds in total. The clean channel has a beautiful strummy sound. When you add Reverb (which almost doesn't work on the DSL), it's a real joy to play. The OD channel already has significant distortion in the orange and red modes, so I set the Gain to 9:00 and then all three modes are usable. Another treat is the programmable footswitch. It switches between both channels and between all modes for each (when changing channels, it remembers which mode was last used for the channel and switches to that mode), between Master 1 and Master 2, and turns Reverb on and off. It can also save specific head settings to each of the four switches. Just turn on the Program button on the head and then hold the switch for three seconds and the settings will be saved to the footswitch.
