HILS Guitars HZ7 NEXT Neon Green Headless guitar

The HZ7 NEXT Neon Green  is a modern 7-string electric guitar crafted for players who demand precision, speed, and expressive tone. With its ergonomic body shape and eye-catching satin Honey Yellow finish, it combines bold aesthetics with serious performance.

A roasted maple neck with a slim "C" profile and multi-scale layout provides excellent playability and tuning stability, while the rosewood fingerboard with stainless steel frets ensures smooth, durable action. The locking 7-string headpiece supports aggressive playing styles without compromising pitch stability.

Equipped with a pair of HILS active rail humbuckers, the HZ7 NEXT delivers tight lows, clear mids, and searing highs—perfect for metal, djent, prog, and beyond. A push/pull tone control and 3-way toggle switch unlock a wide range of tonal options. With a rugged aluminium alloy bridge and factory-fitted D'Addario strings, this guitar is ready for the stage or studio from day one.

To activate the electronics, insert the included 9V battery into the guitar.

Finish

Finish: Satin

The satin finish is popular for its ability to combine the properties of both a glossy and matte finish. This type of finish provides a soft sheen, less intense than gloss but more pronounced than matte. This creates a smooth to touch, lightly reflective surface which gives an elegant and sophisticated appearance. The satin finish is ideal for those looking for a balance between visual appeal and convenience, as it can hide small imperfections and fingerprints better than glossy surfaces.

Body: Mahogany

Mahogany is a dense wood that produces a warm, full tone with rich bass and a strong mid-range. It is known for its excellent sustain and resonance, giving it a deep and round sound.

Neck: Roasted Maple

Roasted maple is a wood that has undergone a heat treatment process to increase its hardness, stability and resistance to changes in humidity and temperature. This material provides a clear, well-balanced tone with a fast response time and excellent sustain. Roasted maple also has a darker, caramel tone that gives the guitar an attractive appearance.

Fretboard: Rosewood

Rosewood is a dark, dense wood that offers a warm, rich tone with excellent response and sustain. The rosewood fingerboard is valued for its smoothness and comfortable feel while offering durability and longevity. It is popular for its rich sound and classic aesthetic.

Pickups Configuration: HH

The humbucker-humbucker configuration means that the guitar is equipped with two humbucker pickups. It offers a powerful, full sound with high output and low noise, ideal for rock and metal.

Well, the guitar isn't bad at all but there are a couple of aspects which need sorting out. Out of the box the guitar plays ok, fretwork is good, no sharp edges and no uneven frets. The neck feels good but it is not properly finished at the heel and feels a bit rough. There is no battery compartment so, you have to remove the backplate (cavity cover) to access the battery...now, why on earth would you do that? Of course the battery change doesn't happen every day but still. The input jack is in the wrong place; if you buy a guitar like that you will most probably play in the classical position and the jack will stick right out and in your leg. Needs a right angled jack to play comfortably. Again I think a more suitable place could have been found. The pick ups aren't bad but fairly quiet for an active system, I thought they would be hotter. The finish is really, really sattle....so it is basically a black guitar the reflective metal particles do not reflect really. The gig bag is cool and a very nice addition. Overall the guitar is good, price for specs; just difficult to understand why it has been released without sorting out those few design issues...a mystery! So, for the price it's a good deal and the instrument feels good, light and comfortable; just do not expect perfection. First time buying from Muziker and no complaints at all with the delivery process, so thanks for that. Take it easy and keep riffing away!
