Epiphone 1960 Les Paul Special Double Cut Reissue TV Yellow Electric guitar
The Les Paul Special was first introduced as a single cutaway model in 1955. With the exception of the sunburst Standard models produced from 1958 to 1960, it was the final variant added to the original lineup of 1950s Les Paul models. An enhanced version of the Les Paul Junior, it featured two P-90 pickups instead of the Junior’s single P-90, and added a touch of refinement with a bound fretboard and a mother-of-pearl headstock logo.
In 1958, the body was redesigned to a double cutaway shape, improving upper fret access. By 1960, the model had truly hit its stride, thanks to a slimmer, faster-playing neck profile and a repositioned neck pickup for better tonal balance and playability.
Now, Epiphone proudly presents the 1960 Les Paul Special Double Cut Reissue—a faithful recreation of that sought-after classic. Just like the originals, this reissue features a slab mahogany body with double cutaways for exceptional fretboard access.
The one-piece mahogany neck has a 60s-style SlimTaper profile for fast playability, and is topped with a rosewood fretboard featuring 22 medium jumbo frets and mother-of-pearl dot inlays. The 12” fretboard radius provides a smooth, comfortable playing surface for both first-position chords and higher-up string bends.
The headstock features the classic “open book” silhouette and is equipped with vintage-style three-on-a-plate tuners with white buttons. A high-quality nut helps keep tuning stable, while a historic-style wraparound bridge with intonation screws anchors the strings and contributes to the exceptional sustain this model is known for.
For electronics, the guitar features a pair of USA-made P-90 Soapbar pickups that can deliver anything from sweet and clean tones to raw, gritty overdrive. They are hand-wired to individual volume and tone controls with CTS potentiometers and vintage-style paper-in-oil capacitors for authentic tone that satisfies even the most discerning players.
The guitar comes housed in a vintage-style hard case with a brown exterior and pink plush interior, complete with special graphics. It all comes together to deliver a true vintage-inspired playing and ownership experience—at a price that makes it more accessible than ever.
Finish: Polished
The glossy finish gives any surface an elegant and luxurious look. This type of finish is achieved by applying several layers of lacquer or resin, which are then polished to a high gloss. This provides a smooth, reflective finish, enhancing color and structure of substrate. The glossy finish not only improves aesthetics, but also protects against dust, moisture and minor scratches.
Body: Mahogany
Mahogany is a dense wood that produces a warm, full tone with rich bass and a strong mid-range. It is known for its excellent sustain and resonance, giving it a deep and round sound.
Neck: Mahogany
The guitar features a mahogany neck for excellent strength and stability. Mahogany is known for its great resonance, contributing to a warm, rich tone with a distinctive mid-range.
Fretboard: Rosewood
Rosewood is a dark, dense wood that offers a warm, rich tone with excellent response and sustain. The rosewood fingerboard is valued for its smoothness and comfortable feel while offering durability and longevity. It is popular for its rich sound and classic aesthetic.
Pickups Configuration: P90 / P90
The P90/P90 configuration means that the guitar is equipped with two P90 pickups. These pickups offer a powerful and punchy tone with more mid-range than traditional single-coil pickups, but with a less aggressive sound than humbuckers. This configuration is suitable for a wide range of musical styles, from rock to blues.
